Description

The Nitecore HA13 RGB is a compact, lightweight AAA headlamp with white, red, green, and blue light modes — built for anyone who needs more than a standard white beam. Whether you're camping, hiking, hunting, or working after dark, this RGB headlamp gives you four distinct light sources in one small, durable unit, each suited to a different job in the field.

The white light output is powered by a 4-core UHE LED running through a unibody optical lens system with multiple facets, delivering four brightness levels from a punchy 350-lumen high (80m beam) down to a 94-hour ultralow setting for when you need to make the batteries last. SOS and Beacon modes are also built in at full 350-lumen output for emergencies or signalling.

Choosing the Right Light Colour for the Job

  • Red Light for Night Vision — The classic choice for preserving night vision. Because red wavelengths cause minimal pupil constriction, switching to red light lets you check a map, adjust gear, or move around camp without needing to re-adapt your eyes to the dark afterwards. It's also the go-to headlamp setting for stargazing and astrophotography, low-disturbance camping (so you're not blinding tent-mates), and wildlife observation, where a white beam would spook animals or attract insects. The slow-flashing mode adds a low-key visibility option for signalling your position at a distance.
  • Green Light for Hunting and Map Reading — Green sits in the part of the spectrum the human eye is naturally most sensitive to, so it gives strong perceived brightness and contrast at a lower lumen output — useful for reading maps or gear labels in detail without a harsh white glare. This makes it a popular headlamp colour for hunters and anglers, since green light is less likely to spook game or fish than white light, and for map-and-compass navigation at night for the same contrast benefit. Some users also prefer green light for close-up tasks like reading in a tent, since it's gentler on the eyes than white light at night.
  • Blue Light for Tracking and Search Tasks — Blue light is widely used for tracking and search tasks, since it makes blood trails, footprints, and certain fibres or stains more visible against natural backgrounds — a genuine advantage for hunters tracking game after a shot, or for search-and-rescue and field forensics work. It also causes less disruption to night vision than white light for general low-key tasks, and some campers use it as a subtle alternative to white light for rummaging through gear at night.

Power comes from either 3 x AAA batteries (alkaline or NiMH) or the Nitecore HLB1500 Li-ion rechargeable battery pack (sold separately) — swap between them depending on whether you want convenience or longer runtimes. On the HLB1500, ultralow mode stretches to an impressive 160 hours, making this AAA headlamp a reliable choice for extended trips off-grid.

Two distinctly shaped buttons make it easy to control every mode one-handed, even with gloves on. The body is built from impact- and cold-resistant PC material, rated to withstand a 1-metre drop and IP66 waterproofing — tougher than most headlamps in its class, and well suited to outdoor use in UK weather.
